F.I.T - Fat Improvement Technology

F.I.T is a treatment process for animal fat and vegetable oil with high free fatty acid (ffa) content and other impurities. It uses a combination of thermal mechanical cleaning and an esterification process to reduce the ffa-content. Other components like water, phosphorus, silicium, sulphur, chlorine, sodium, calcium, and potassium are also reduced to minimal levels. The output material - neutral fat - is a high value product and can be converted into many beneficial products.

We have the expertise for the conversion of neutral fat to energy in specially designed combustion engine-generator units (CHP’s or Gensets) based on modified Diesel engine technology. The high calorific value and the excellent combustion characteristics of the neutral fat allow very profitable, green Power and Heat Generation.

Option - the treated fat/oil can be used as a high quality raw material for a Bio Diesel production.

Production Example: 1030 tonnes of Animal Fat with high ffa can produce - 1000 tonnes of Neutral Fat which in average can produce - 4500MWh of Electricity plus a similar amount of Thermal Process Heat Fat Improvement cost: 90-140 USD/tonne (Estimate includes investment and operation cost) Applications: Where ever low quality fat (tallow) and plant oils are produced, e.g. Abattoir, Palm oil mill effluent fat.
